Kate and I went to ikea today and got a new bed frame for our apartment. We spent 5 hours driving (2.5 down and 2.5 back) and around 4 hours of construction to get it all together. We also walked around ikea and looked at other things while we were there. We would have stayed longer but the closed early due to an employee party.
Here is the bed we got. I really like it and once I get a headboard made kate will like it even more.
Also, yes it does have four good size drawers on the bottom. It is enough room that we no longer need a dresser. I am very happy with it and it went together pretty easy. Kate helped with assembly and we had a generally good time. I just need to get the drawers to operate smoother and things will be great.
Today was my first day of training at best buy. I got there at 9:30 and we had a quick meeting to discuss goals and what not before opening the store. I spent the day learning from Terrel. I learned how to clock in and out using the best buy software, how to check a log, how to track sales, how to replace display models, how the plans and what not work. I hope to learn how to run a register before too long as I feel a little useless right now.
After work I came home to a cleaner house and lunch since kate was off. It was a very nice surprise. Then we went to a house north of raleigh to meet up with some people from the church kate attends. They were helping one of the members move out of her house. So, kate and I packed boxes, moved boxes into cars and into storage, and kate did a little landscaping.
And lastly Miles has had a mean tummy ache of late. We went to the store after we were done and got some different food to see if it helps. We don't think it's worms becuase we don't see any in their leavings.
Congrats on finally getting your training started! I know that has to be a huge relief. Also; I really appreciate all your blogs and updates.
Last night I had an urge to make homeade pizza. So, I looked through some recipes and found some that sounded doable and went and got the ingredients. I didn't realize until the end that the dough I had chosen made 3 pizzas and not 1 like I had thought. So, we made 2 pizzas and one dessert pizza. Overall I liked the sauce but will be looking for a different crust recipe when we do it again.
As for the soccer I was browsing around the meetup.com thing earlier in the week and was looking for some flag football to go play. I didn't find anything but found some pickup soccer and pickup ultamite frisbee. The frisbee was at a bad time so I decided I would like to go try soccer. I cunningly convinced kate to go.... by not telling her until she was in the car. She was nervous at first, but once we got there an played we had a great time. We are both sore but feel like we would enjoy doing it again.
There's an easy recipe for pizza in the cookbook I gave Kate at Christmas. It makes one pizza.
Kate had to work a long shift today. So, I didn't have much to do and thought I would go for a bike ride. I took the trails I normally take down to the mall and saw kate and the long line for the new Iphone. Kate was nice and got me an ice water. Much appreciated. It's a good temp today as long as you got a breeze which the bike does nicely. But anyways after I let my drink settle I got back on my bike and took the other half of the trail back to the apartment. About halfway back I noticed something move out of the corner of my eye and then all of a sudden there was an good size deer on the trail in front of me. I ran off about 15 yards and stopped by the edge of the woods and looked at me. I tried to get my camera out to take a pic, but who knows if it came out well. After a few minutes of watching the deer and the deer watching me it slowly walked into the woods a few more feet and stopped and watched me until I left.
To put things in perspective the trail I was on runs along a stream and there are houses all along this stream. Infact there was a house just a few yards up a hill from where I was when I saw the deer. This trail is also well inside the city, so It was really neat and scary to see a deer on my bike. All was well so I finished my ride home.
Also a few things to note. I got a letter in the mail today from NC State. It looks like the one they sent me online. Kate still hasn't gotten her letter. Mine also wanted me to submit some medical records. So, I will need to dig that up.
And lastly, kate's parent's house got broken yesterday. I think I caught most of the story and it really unfortunate and very out of character for the area that her parent's live in. I wish them the best in recovering what they have lost. Kate also seemed a little shook up from it. She's fine now, but this is coinciding with some saftey meetings we have been having at the complex (the meetings are proactive and not reactive).
We had a great find at goodwill today. There was a furniture cat tower in good condition for $10. So we bought it and brought it home. The cats have been enjoying it since.
I've missed hearing from you. How's the new job? Are you going to school this fall? Did you get a fellowship? Post when you can. Inquiring minds want to know!! (ha!)
